How we ensured a smooth transition from Kimbia to Stripe

When The Heritage Foundation decided to move their payment processing and form generation from Sage/Kimbia to Stripe, we wanted to have a way to do a “soft-launch” that would ensure a successful roll out. Specifically, we wanted to be able to test the form to ensure there were no unintended bugs and that the form did not possess some unseen factors that would have hurt the donor conversion rate.
We decided to do a split-test between three different donation pages (the main donate page, the renewal page, and the Join Heritage page). We tested these pages using a Kimbia form and a Stripe form and split traffic equally between them.

Results
This experiment has a required sample size of 40,882 in order to be valid. Unfortunately, the required sample size was not met and a level of confidence above 95% was not met so the experiment results are not valid.
Key Learnings
The experiment resulted in no significant impact in either direction. In this situation, that is actually what we were hoping for. We wanted to ensure that Stripe didn’t negatively impact the conversion rate. While a lift would been nice, since the forms were nearly identical, we didn’t expect that to actually happen.
